Filing your Confirmation Statement with Companies House

banner

Every Limited Company including Dormant and non-trading companies must file a confirmation statement with Companies House every year. It basically confirms to Companies House that the information they hold about a Company is up to date.

If you change any information about your company you should be updating Companies House straight away – don’t wait for your Confirmation Statement!

Your Confirmation Statement due date can be found on your company profile on the Companies House Register, or you should also receive a reminder when it is due. You get 2 weeks from the statement date to file.

To check your Company details and to file your confirmation statement:

1. Log into Companies House WebFiling service:

  • Please note that you will need to enable cookies for this page to work, if you are seeing an error message try the URL in a Google Chrome incognito tab
  • If you do not already have a WebFiling account, you will need to register for one

2. You will then be asked to enter your company number and your Companies House authentication code.

  • Your company number can be found by looking up your company on the Companies House Register or it should be on any correspondence received from Companies House
  • Your Authentication Code would have been sent to you when you first set up your company. If you need to be sent a reminder this can be requested here. Please allow plenty of time to request this as Companies House will send the reminder by post.

3. Once you are logged in, you should see a button to file your Confirmation Statement on the home screen. Click on this and then follow the instructions which will guide you through checking and completing the Confirmation Statement.

4. When you are ready to file, you will be asked to pay a £50 filing fee to Companies House via card payment.

And that’s it! It should be super straightforward, but it’s important to ensure you do it to avoid a fine from Companies House or in the worse case scenario your Company being struck off.
