If you’ve been given your HMRC self-assessment tax bill by your accountant, but you’re not quite sure how to pay, I got you!
There are a number of different ways you can pay and i’ve written step by step instructions on how to do so below
Pay Via Your Personal Tax Account
1. Log into your government gateway account and select ‘self-assessment’
2. then ‘make a payment’
3. Enter the amount your owe
4. Select your preferred payment method and follow the instructions
By Making A Direct Bank Transfer To HMRC
You can make a direct transfer to HMRC using the bank details below

ABSOLUTELY do not forget to put your UTR as the reference as otherwise they will have no idea it’s from you and will continue to chase you for the payment until it’s allocated. Totally unnecessary stress!
I’d also advise double checking the bank details with HMRC via https://www.gov.uk/pay-self-assessment-tax-bill/bank-details so ensure that they are 100% correct
Pay Via HMRC Without Logging Into Your Gateway Account (Useful if you don’t have a gateway account set up!)
- Go to http://www.gov.uk/pay-self-assessment-tax-bill and select ‘pay self-assessment now’
2. Select ‘No, pay without signing in’
3. Enter your UTR
4. Enter the amount you owe
5. Select your preferred payment method and follow the instructions
I hope one of these methods works for you!
